Sarah Jones L.(Dip) C.B.A – C.I.C.B. Artistic Director
I began classical ballet at age 8 at the Carolan School of Ballet in Stirling. During my time there, I successfully accomplished all Cecchetti Grade examinations with high results (as a dancer).
At the age of 15, I was accepted by the National Theatre Ballet School in Melbourne to study full-time and was lucky enough to be a part of the performance team. We were invited to perform at major events and venues right across Victoria. On completion of the course, I was one of only 8 to attain the Advanced Certificate of Classical Dance.
In 1995 I spent a year dancing overseas, after which I returned to Adelaide and was involved in numerous projects across S.A working as a freelance artist in many genres of dance.
Early in 1997, I relocated to Sydney and joined the N.S.W Ballet Company for 8 months for their season of Orpheus.
Late 1997, I followed my heart and returned home to Adelaide. For the next 2 years, I danced with small ensembles. I enjoyed working as a guest artist for the SACYB Company’s production of Swan Lake, performing the role of the black swan, Odile and also worked on the ABC documentary – Vital Sytems, performing the Sleeping Beauty pas de deux.
In 2000, after my first child was born, the emphasis then changed from a dancer to a mother. On reassessing my life, I worked in various industries such as early childhood, retail and hospitality. During this time, I felt that I needed to continue to either dance or teach the art form of dance to others.
I then began teaching at Ausdance and relieved for Miss Carole Hall whenever required. This lead me to obtain my Associate, my Associate Diploma and my Licentiate Diploma in teaching of the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet.
I’m currently studying for my Fellowship and training towards Part 2 of the Enrico Cecchetti Diploma.
In 2002, I was given an opportunity to begin my teaching career with Ann Tannerbring and the late Denise Fisher in their Blackwood ballet school. From 2002 to 2016, I enjoyed being able to bring up my young family and work close to home.
After much deliberation, the choice was made made to once more follow my heart and establish my own ballet school and it has been nothing short of amazing!! The last 7 years have exceeded my expectations and I am in awe at the beautiful home we have created. I’m looking forward to a bright future at En Pointe Ballet School.
Love and Sunshine.
Miss Sarah.
